Nutrition and Pain Management

Nutrition Plays a Part in Pain Management

What we choose to eat becomes a part of us and can either cause us harm or do us good. Here at Skocik Chiropractic in Harrisburg, we discuss nutrition in depth with each of our patients as an integral part of our pain management services.

How Your Diet and Nutrition May Affect Your Pain Management

Science now knows that a great deal of what we consider in as “normal” in certain diets is actually very inflammatory to our bodies. This continual low-level inflammation can cause pain and dysfunction all by itself, and it can also aggravate the symptoms of chronic conditions we already have. This is why our Harrisburg chiropractor puts such a great emphasis on nutrition with each patient.

We can do a lot here in the office to help with pain management, realigning the spine, providing chiropractic modalities, rehabilitative exercises, etc. But how our patients eat at home goes a very long way toward deciding how successful they will be at getting truly healthy. In fact, we believe in helping people avoid health problems before they start by helping them eat healthy!

We also understand that nutrition can be a tricky and difficult subject with people. Even the healthiest eaters may have a food sensitivity they are unaware of, or they still may not be getting enough of certain nutrients. In many cases, patients suffer from conditions that require above and beyond the normal levels of certain nutrients in order to get true relief and healing from their ailments. So, in addition to intensive nutritional counseling about how different foods affect our bodies, we are also certified in Metagenics. Metagenics are scientifically formulated medical food supplements that are designed to support specific health goals for our patients.
