What is Joint Pain Really?
The joints in our body are where the bones meet. The joints are like the little hinges that connect two bones together, so they can move. Our joints are found in our shoulders, hips, elbows, and knees. Most common joint pain is due to inflammation found in the surrounding joint area. Joint pain could also do the erasure of the bones cushioning material causing bone on bone rubbing.
Causes of Joint Pain
Not all joint pain is due to simple inflammation. Some causes are due to injury and illness too. Let’s look at some other causes. Arthritis is the most common cause of joint pain. It causes inflammation of the joints, causing pain, swelling, and discomfort. There are two forms of arthritis, Osteoarthritis (OA) and Rheumatoid (RA). OA is the result of the wearing down of cartilage that serves as a cushion between the joints. RA is caused by inflammation and can often deform the joints and lead to fluid buildup around the area. This causes the body’s immune system to react attacking the lining of the joints.
Other causes of joint pain include:
- Bursitis – The inflammation of the cushioning pad that are around the joints.
- Lupus
- Gout
- Injury – Injured tendon creates tendinitis (Which is the inflammation of the tendon)
- Mumps
- Hepatitis
- Chondromalacia (The deconstruction of the cartilage in the knee cap.)
- Cancer
- Fibromyalgia
- Osteoporosis
- Sarcoidosis
- Rickets
All can be factors in causing joint pain suffering.
