Practical Chiropractic Advice for Better Daily Living

Our primary focus at Skocik Chiropractic is to help patients manage their health and wellness, especially in the Harrisburg, PA community. One of the ways we support patients is through resources specifically chosen to give people practical advice that speeds recovery from common ailments that trigger aches and pains.

Dr. Albert Skocik recently appeared as a featured author on Good Day PA to discuss his new book Years to Life, Life to Years: A Chiropractor's Basic Word of Advice. During his interview he explained that prevention is essential for good health. Because you are, in Dr. Skocik's words, "The star of your own health care," making informed decisions starts with your resource tool-kit.

The book addresses the most common questions people ask about taking control of their own health when to seek medical attention after an accident or injury and emerging medical research that supports self-care practices for chronic conditions.

Common Questions and Chiropractor Advice

Q.  What advice do you recommend for self-care after an auto accident?

A.  The absence of symptoms doesn't necessarily mean you haven't suffered an injury. We recommend that anyone involved in an auto accident seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Q.  What should I do if I'm hurt at work?

A.  First, report the incident. You need to look after yourself and follow company procedures so you can receive adequate medical care and follow-up. Getting the correct care allows you to recover quicker and return to work when you're ready. Taking care of yourself serves you and your employer.

Q.  Can chiropractic treatments help me manage neuropathy?

A.  Neuropathy, a condition where nerve function is out of balance or impaired, is a challenging, often painful and disruptive disorder. Roughly 20 million Americans suffer from numbness, tingling or burning associated with neuropathy. The good news is that there are new treatments available to help people take control of their health and live with less pain.

Did you know you have options that may make living neuropathy less disruptive? Give our office a call at 717-441-0773 to discuss treatment or request a copy of Dr. Skocik's new book.
